Happy October! It is official, you can start getting into the Halloween spirit without people complaining that it's too early. Halloween is an amazing holiday, originating from traditions of witchcraft and warding demons away to the modern traditions of trick or treating and rowdy parties, all ways of celebrating All Hallow's Eve are sure to be fun. The costumes however, can be a bit stressful. So much indecision, not sure how it will look on, and for me personally, wondering if it's wasteful to only wear it for one night? I'm personally a fan of buying quality costume pieces to repurpose and we at Cloak and Dagger want to help you find quality clothing that you can use for a costume and also repurpose through the year!
Our first look is eccentric but hey, sometimes it's all about making an explosive statement. The Bella Freud St. James Blazer and 1976 Velvet Trouser paired together make a beautifully rich burgundy velvet suit. This suit would be well-timed and appropriate for a Joker costume, specifically Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. The new movie Folie a Deux also features Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn who sports a red blazer similar to the Maria Stanley Ronin Blazer. If paired with appropriate face paint, these items would be timely and perfect for this Halloween!
With the release of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the camp horror icon is surging back into the public conscious. Our Le Nouvelle Bardot Dress is perfect for a Fem Beetlejuice look with its thick black stripes to match his iconic suit. Pair it with some green hair, purple eye makeup, and maybe a prop sand worm for a killer look! We also have some new black boots in-store (Online later this week) that would all suit the look. Just don't let anyone say his name three times.
Our next look is a spin on a classic, pairing the Checkered Biba Dress with a pair of Carel Kinas in Rouge would be a great nod to the black and white to color transition of the Wizard of Oz. The dress is reminiscent of Dorothy in a gingham pattern and the red shoes would resemble the ruby slippers. Some black and white effect makeup slowly fading towards the legs would be the perfect touch!
For a cutesy take on a real Halloween classic, I recommend the C&D Lucia skirt paired with any of our white tops including the C&D Lucia top and Ciao Lucia Anabela top, or any of our white vintage blouses for a ghostly beauty look. This could be styled to be cute or more haunting depending on the makeup look chosen. You could even stick black construction paper eyes on the top to make the garments resemble the body of the ghost.
This next one is a bit of a mix but we have an overwhelming amount of vintage that could be utilized for a Wes Anderson inspired look. The vintage 50's Mink Collar Coat is very Margot Tenenbaum, the Vintage Yellow Button Up wouldn't be out of place in Moonrise Kingdom, and the Vintage Owl Knit Vest is a perfect quirky touch for an Anderson inspired look. Our latest fall drop features many new pieces in that warm earthy color scheme Anderson favors for so many of his films so be sure to check that out when it hits the site later!
We hope we've helped narrow some options down and hopefully you'll get some use out of our pieces past only Halloween, but for now, have a scarily super October and stop in for the best fall fashion!
