Charli xcx has just released her latest and most critically acclaimed album yet. brat, chronicles club culture, the singer’s fallout and subsequent repair of female friendships, and the messy glamor of being a pop princess.

The iconic green art of the album cover, has taken over the internet, with every green item being bratified by pasting the lowercase font title on the green object. Internet users have dubbed the summer of 2024, as a "brat girl summer", taking inspiration from Megan thee Stallion's "Hot girl summer". In a similar vein to Megan's confident and punchy anthem, brat girl summer is about living it up, throwback fashion, and being an "It girl" in every way.

Charli's music is maximalist and lush, but deeply vulnerable. Her recent release, "Girl, so confusing feat. Lorde", centers on the pair's messy past, falling out, into eventually "working it out on the remix". Lorde's verses explain her past with eating disorders and criticism surrounding her womanhood even from age ten. Charli's song "Club Classics", pays homage to Charli's late friend and musician/producer SOPHIE, whose tragic passing shook her community.
